About Brooklyn Faris

***UPDATE MARCH 26, 2016***

SHE'S HOME!!!!!!!!!!

Remember how FedEx quietly whisked Brooklyn and her family away to Chicago in a massive snow storm when there was little hope-- getting her to the hospital just in the nick of time? For free. Just because they would want the same done for their own babies. Well-- those airplane angels did it again! They gave a HEALTHY B and her amazing big sister Rhet and their parents one last ride of a lifetime all the way home to Memphis.

Memphis-- you may not always be hip and shiny new... but when it comes to it you SHOW UP. You love hard. You follow through. Memphis-- you helped save this little girl's LIFE. Thank you. Thank you. Thank YOU.

Let's keep spreading the word so we can finish off the rest of the money that will be needed for follow-ups in Chicago and allllllllll that medication. And after that? Let's teach our kids that this is what Memphis does. Let's keep showing up. Let's keep loving our neighbors well. Let's never forget that little by little, together we can rewrite stories.

***UPDATE MARCH 18, 2016***

Brooklyn is now 4 weeks post transplant and 10 days post hospital livin’! She and her sweet parents are settled into the Ronald McDonald House for the coming weeks as she continues to receive treatment from the amazing team at Lurie Children’s Hospital. Over and over we are all so amazed at her resilience and light. Her sweet eyes are now white and clear. Her body is growing stronger by the day. Please continue to pray for sweet B’s body to heal and please continue to pray for the amazing donor family who has honored their loved one in the most beautiful of ways.

***UPDATE MARCH 1, 2016***

Brooklyn's NG tube is out! Her Oxygen line--out. A few more IV lines--OUT. She is out of the ICU  and now on a step down floor for a while longer before being discharged while her health is monitored.  Today she was even able to take a stroller ride to the Family Center at the hospital! Look at that smile on her sweet little face!

Brooklyn is still having trouble with getting enough sleep, however, she is eating solid food now and both arms are free to move and both legs are free. Which means she can give her mom and dad lots of hugs!

The goals of the next few months will be getting back on a regular schedule, ongoing healing from the surgery, and getting out of the hospital. From there the Faris' will still need to reside in Chicago for a bit to attend mandatory appointments.

Because of each of you who have done sooooo much, this sweet family can have one focus-- get Brooklyn healthy! Thank you everyone for all you have done and continue to do for the Faris family. Let's finish this out strong! Let's keep spreading the word about the 75k goal and bring in every last cent before they return to Memphis.

***UPDATE FEBRUARY 26, 2016***

Brooklyn is out of surgery and it was very successful! She still has a long road of healing in front of her, but today we celebrate that she has received this HUGE gift. We celebrate the spark in Brooklyn's eyes and her fight to live! We celebrate the doctors at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago who have gone above and beyond. We celebrate MEMPHIS and the glow of love and generosity that beams out of this place. We celebrate FedEx being literal heroes to the Faris family. We celebrate every person who has heard B's story and asked, "What can I do?". We celebrate the donor and their family for the goodness and grace they have given. We celebrate every person who has prayed and cried and donated and shown up for Brooklyn is such a mighty way. God is love... and love is surrounding Brooklyn every step of the way.

***UPDATE February 25, 2016 9:30am***

Right this moment Brooklyn is being prepped for surgery! The surgeons anticipate she will be out of surgery by 6pm.

The past 24 hours have been UNREAL. There are so many amazing, good, kind people in this world. Memphis has come together in the most amazing way for Brooklyn. Over 1,300 Chicago flights were canceled due to weather. Planes could not land... Except FedEx planes. So FedEx flew Brooklyn there-- for FREE.

Today we pray for a successful surgery. We pray for a rapid recovery. We pray for years of good health for Brooklyn. And we pray for comfort and grace to fall on the family that is mourning the loss of this brave person who has given sweet B the biggest gift.

**UPDATE** February 24, 2016 7:30PM

FedEx is flying Brooklyn and her family to Chicago in THIRTY MINUTES on one of their planes FREE OF CHARGE.

FedEx-- You have outdone yourself!

**UPDATE** February 24, 2016 2:30PM

It’s GO TIME everyone! The Faris family just received the call. THE CALL. There is a liver waiting for Brooklyn in Chicago today. Chicago is experiencing a blizzard so the Faris family is still trying to catch a flight. Prayers for the family's travel are very appreciated! If you’ve already donated to COTA on behalf of Brooklyn—please consider giving a little more. If you’ve shared the link to the website and the video—please share again! Memphis has been so incredibly generous to the Faris family and now the real need begins. Let’s see sweet Brooklyn all the way through! Today we pray for Brooklyn’s healing and we praise God for all He is doing!

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-related expenses.  In Memphis, volunteers are raising funds for COTA in honor of transplant patients like local girl, Brooklyn Faris

Brooklyn is the daughter of Nicholas and Jesse Faris.  Born on December 27, 2013, Brooklyn was diagnosed with Alagille Syndrome.  The doctors at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, have recommended a life-saving liver transplant.  An estimated $75,000 is being raised by Memphis volunteers.
